Ichiban Japanese Restaurant in West Vancouver

Great food, great service. Mark worth this restaurant. Appetizer and lunch teishoku I ordered are all awesome. Each plate has its own specialty and tasty. Try some!!!

Ichiban Japanese Kitchen, I believe it is one of the finest running kitchen in Vancouver. The chef has delivered an incredible dish which balanced the harmony between different ingredients. Not to mention the ecstatic beauty in authentic plating. The front of house showed its compassion in hospitality and every detail for the needs of every guests. It was a true honour dining in this incredible restaurant.

It has a very authentic atmosphere, all the employees are very friendly and kind, and food was delicious. We enjoyed our time there a lot

Loved the place! The chef was very friendly and attentive. The food was good, but a special treat was their volcano roll - it comes with real burning fire on top! Must try.

Had the Chef's dinner (at bar only) and was treated royally! Very unique dishes prepared in front of you was an experience we will always remember. We added the Wagyu Shabu Shabu (crazy good) and be sure to add the spices from the shaker with noodles for an incredible rich tasting dish.

Our friends introduced us here. We are becoming more regular here. Kids love it. Good food and really nice staff.

If I could put 10 stars I would. I ordered Omakase, Chicken Karaage, and shrimp Dumpling. It was the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted. If you come to West Vancouver. Eat here with fantastic customer service, and an amazing location to relax and enjoy the scenery. We will definitely return soon.

Great place. Severs and chef are so friendly. I had black cod, tiger roll, spicy salmon sashimi and 4 season platter. Every foods are so amazing and so good!!

One of my all time favorite restaurants. Ever since Jason (head chef) took over, this place has been on another level. Service is friendly, and the food is amazing, while maintaining a reasonable price. I would highly recommend people check this place out.

Great place, very cozy, food is delicious and they have some very comfortable booths that are more 'traditional' Japanese style. Restaurant is upstairs so there's a nice view of the street below for people-watching if you're into that kind of thing.

Amazing dynamite and California roll

This place, by far, has become my favourite Japanese restaurant. From the traditional atmosphere to the delectable dishes it serves, along with such an attentive and humble staff, it has captured me. Hence I take the time to write my first review. Additionally, the price quality ratio is excellent.

Ichiban has been my favourite sushi restaurant for years! The staff are always so sweet and helpful, and the food is delicious.

Iam new to eating sushi but i belive ichiban has the best sushi around here the only issue is a little bit overpriced but still coming back for sure

Totally awesome place to go on a quiet and nice date. Look for a a room for quieter and private spot. The food was right on spot. They are big on using the freshest and top quality ingredients, especially local. All the staffs are young and full of energy. Server was especially friendly and helping. We had there after our Stanley park visit to grab dinner. Ended up getting much more than we expected! It's about 11 min drive from the park.

The gf and I had originally planned to go to Wooden Fish next door, but the limited menu and high prices pushed us out the door to Ichiban instead, and I'm incredibly thankful for that.The level of service was standard-setting. I was craving okonomiyaki, which they didn't have on their menu, and my gf mentioned this in passing to the waitress. She checked with the chef and confirmed the price with us, and a few minutes later, a freshly grilled okonomiyaki was on the table. About 10 minutes into the meal, the waitress dropped off two complimentary pieces of takoyaki that the chef had made with the leftover batter. Even my gf who usually doesn't like takoyaki enjoyed it!I'm rarely in West Van, but I'll be stopping in for a meal at Ichiban every time I get the chance. 감사합니다 to the chef and wait staff, you definitely earned a customer for life.

Delicious! Fresh, fair price. The waitress told me it is the oldest Japanese restaurant on the north shore. The decor is classic Japanese and the staff is friendly. A great choice.

Nice place to enjoy a quite lunch. I have been to this place over ten years. The same chef, the same menus, the same satisfaction. No booking needed.

We had such a positive experience just now! We ordered take-out and the food was delicious. The real crab California roll was the best I've ever had! They wrote us a kind note thanking us for choosing them and for supporting their local businesses during this time (COVID). There were three lollipops for the kids as well, which was an awesome surprise, as well as free gyoza. We will be back for sure! Thank you to everyone at Ichiban and stay safe 🙂

Good Japanese sushi restaurant!

UPDATE:Moving from 3 to 4 Stars. Have visited again. It's definitely cleaner, and more professional operation. There's one dish that I just don't like quite as much as I used to (the Udon), but that is not consistent with what others in the family have said - they generally say the sushi is now better than it was under previous owners. Thanks, sure we'll be back again soon...ORIGINALIt’s been smartened up a bit with the new owners, with a more extensive/elaborate menu, but we think the for food has gone downhill a bit.

The people running this place are so kind. They really take care you. Jason is a fantastic chef and the food is always delicious. I adore the Mr. Bean roll and the spicy tofu. It is a regular haunt for myself and my partner. We adore this place :)

This is our go to Sushi restaurant in West Van! The management has recently changed but the quality hasn't. It is consistently fresh!

Definitely will not go there again! We only ordered one box and six pieces of Alaska roll. It takes about half an hour to get all ready. The waitress never refill the tea. They even only give us less than half glass of the tea!!! Pricy and no customer services at all!

Always our go-to for the best Japanese food on the North Shore. Upon arriving there tonight we weren't greeted by our familiar Jason, and found it was under new ownership. After being seated and presented with a totally new menu, we initially had our reservations. But to our very pleasant surprise, the meal exceeded our expectations even more! Menu was expanded. Items we ordered were well-presented, top quality, fresh, and perfectly done! Our server, new owner, and all the staff are super friendly, attentive, helpful! Looking forwards to coming back and trying out all the other items on the extensive menu. Highly recommend this place! Congratulations to new owner and staff for making our dining experience here even better!

Beautiful place! Some tatami mat rooms and booths, sweet waitress and friendly chef. This is a, great place to go for lunch or dinner. Everything was fresh and had amazing flavours, much better than other places. Additionally, you'll be amazed at how gourmet the plating is.

It's a great place for authentic Japanese food! The food is always fresh and extremely well made. Jason, the owner/chef puts a lot of effort and pride in the sushi he makes. It's casual and NOT pretentious. It's definitely a hidden gem. I've been recommending all my friends to try this place out, and they all agree that the food is worth 5 stars!
